A while ago I came across a special holder to shape your brushes after washing them. I thought it was a perfect way to make my brushes feel and look like new, but I wasn’t planning on spending a lot of money to get there. So I made my own version. Maybe not that pretty, but it works!
I start with washing my brushes with shampoo and water. When they’re clean I rinse them thoroughly.
My brushes usually look like this, all fluffy and chaotic.
So I made these elastic pieces. I used 3 cm wide elastic band and cut that into pieces. By sewing the ends together I created loops and the best thing to do is to make different sizes. So really small ones for a small blending brushes and larger ones for a stippling brush and kabuki brush.
After washing your brushes you pull the elastic bands around the hairs. They should be nice and tight. Than you just lay your brushes down somewhere and let them dry.
After a night or a couple of hours you can remove the elastic bands and your brushes are nicely shaped again!
